4. How do I obtain a copy of a fire, EMS, or incident report?

You may obtain a copy of any report for any incident in which you were involved in by contacting the Fire Chief at (972)347-2424 or in writing to Chief Ronnie Tucker / Prosper Fire Department, P.O. 5. Do you host birthday parties, offer station tours, or take the fire engine to schools?

We are unable to host birthday parties at the fire station due to the chance of an emergency call.  Station tours are encouraged, and can be arranged by calling the station at (972)347-2424.  We can also visit your location with the fire engine and or ambulance.  We also visit schools when requested.  If you would like us to visit your child's class have the teacher, principal, or other school district representative contact the department to make arrangements.

6. Why was my ambulance ride to the hospital so bumpy and uncomfortable?

The patient stretcher has a thin, firm mattress that lays directly on an aluminum frame and provides very little comfort.  Unfortunately, the cot must be firm to allow us to perform CPR on critically ill patients.  In addition, we try to respond to medical emergencies as quickly as possible to provide timely, life saving treatment.  Consequently, this requires vehicles with good handling characteristics.  If these large heavy vehicles had a softer, more "spongy" feel that would provide a smoother ride, they would not be as safe to drive during rapid response to the scene or rapid hospital transport.

7. What is the Insurance Services Office (ISO) Public Protection Classification (PPC) Rating for Prosper?

The current ISO rating for Prosper is a Class 5/9.

ISO collects information on municipal fire-protection efforts in communities throughout the United States. In each of those communities, ISO analyzes the relevant data using a Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS). They then assign a Public Protection Classification from 1 to 10. Class 1 represents exemplary public protection, and Class 10 indicates that the area's fire-suppression program doesn't meet ISO's minimum criteria.

Prosper currently has a split classification of 5/9.  The first Class (5) applies to properties within five road miles of the fire station and within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant.  The second class (9) applies to properties within five road miles of the fire station but beyond 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant.  ISO generally assigns a class 10 to properties beyond five miles of a fire station.
