Collin County. This burn ban is being enforced within the

Extrication
Training...
September 5, 2007 - Training this week consisted of vehicular
extrication and the EMS operations specific to it. Our
vehicular extrication training program is continually being updated
with the newest techniques and procedures.
Changes in vehicle construction including the use of harder
metals and composites makes each vehicle extrication different
from the last. This along with the ever changing placement
and increased use of safety devices throughout the vehicle means
each extrication has to be done quickly but with caution to
ensure the safety of the passengers and emergency personnel.

CareFlite Assists At Medical Emergency...
January
22nd, 2004 -
CareFlite is summoned to assist Prosper Medic 1 and Engine 1
while responding to a medical emergency. CareFlite was
used to facilitate a rapid transport to the hospital of a
critically ill patient. The Prosper Fire Department
utilizes CareFlite, Skymed, and Lifestar the three local
air-ambulance services in many different situations.
Primarily an air ambulance is used to transport a trauma patient
in critical condition to one of the regional trauma centers in
Dallas. The air ambulance is the fastest method to provide
a patient access to dedicated trauma services due to their
distance from Prosper. Air ambulances are also called upon
during medical emergencies based on a number of factors
including patient status, time of day, and expected transport
time by ground. At 7 AM on a weekday morning it may be
faster to use an air ambulance to transport a patient to a
hospital in Dallas than for a patient to be transported by
ground to a local hospital.
New Station Ground Breaking... January 22nd, 2004 -

ratings equate to lower home insurance rates for the citizen's
of Prosper. The lowered rating is a direct result of the
hard work and dedication of the members of the Prosper Fire
Department. The Department is committed to providing the
best possible service to the citizen's of Prosper. Click

New Fire

October

inspection by the Texas Department of Health and went into
service at midnight on October 1st, 2002. With the
addition of 3 new fire fighter / paramedics the ambulance will

Prosper Fire - Rescue is now providing ambulance service for the
Town of Prosper, City of Celina, and virtually all
unincorporated areas of Collin County north of US Hwy 380 and
west of FM 2478. The two fire fighter / paramedics on duty
at all times will bring the level of advanced medical care
closer to the citizens that we serve that were previously served
by the Frisco Fire Department. When the primary ambulance
is dispatched on a call, volunteer fire fighter / paramedics
will staff our second ambulance in the event of a second call.
Paid 24
Hour Staffing Begins...
May 25, 2002 - The Prosper Fire Department
has taken the first step toward becoming a fully paid fire
department with the addition of the third full time fire fighter
/ paramedic. Staffing during the past 18 months has been 7
days a week from 7am to 7pm, with the additional fire fighter
paramedic staffing will be continuous, 24 hours per day.
The fire fighter will staff the Prosper fire station 24 hours a
day, 365 days per year. The fire fighters duties will
primarily be to keep all of the department's equipment ready for
action. While the department will still rely heavily on
the volunteer members for emergency response, the paid personnel
will be able to ensure that the day to day functions of the
department are met. In the near future additional
personnel will be added to staff an ambulance with two fire
fighter / paramedics at all times.
